Battle Cards is a card game feature that was added into the game during Patch 1.6.7. The update was split into two parts. The first part was released on June 16th 2021 as Patch 1.6.7 which introduced 161 cards and two different game modes, basic and advanced. The second part of the update was released on September 2nd 2021 as Patch 1.6.8 which introduced the Battle Card Tournament. The Halloween 2021 update added several new cards in THEBLACKTOWER as well as the Eldritch Card Back.
Players are able to challenge one another in a card battle with two different game modes, Basic Game Mode and Advanced Game Mode. Players will have to create two different deck of cards, Basic Deck and Advanced Deck, for each game mode. Different rules have to be followed when creating the two deck of cards in order for players to challenge in a card battle.
Challenging a player
In order for players to challenge another player in a card battle, players will have to wrench another player and click the "Challenge" button which will initiate a confirmation and acceptance menu where the player can select the game mode, basic or advanced, and wait for the other player to accept the challenge. Once accepted, the card battle between both players will officially start.
Do note that both players will need to fulfil the rules of either the basic deck (basic game mode) or advanced deck (advanced game mode) in order to challenge.
Gameplay
At the start of the game, each player will be dealt three cards (basic game mode) or four cards (advanced game mode) and the starting player is selected by random. Players will then draw one card from their deck at the start of their turn.
Players can attack their opponent by playing a card either vertically or horizontally next to an opponent card and if a value of the player card is greater than or equal to the adjacent value of the opponent's card, a duel will take place and the opponent's card will be turned around and becomes an ally card. The same can be done by the opponent as well. Multiple duels can take place if there are more than one opponent cards next to the player card.
The game ends when all empty slots on the arena are filled and the player with the most ally cards on the arena wins.
Both the basic and advanced game mode have similar gameplay as stated above. However, the advanced game mode have a twist to it which makes it more complex.
Basic Game Mode
The basic game mode is generally a fast-paced and simple game mode for beginners where players challenge one another with character cards only. There are a total of 9 empty slot in the arena and players can play one character card at each of their turn.
Advanced Game Mode
Compared to the basic game mode, the advanced game mode takes a longer time to finish and has a total of 15 empty slots in the arena. Players can play one character card and one action or effect card at each of their turn.
Types of Playing Cards
The cards players are using in a card battle are called playing cards and there are three different types of playing cards. They are the Player Card, Action Card and Effect Card.
Player cards are cards that players will play on the empty slot itself in the arena. Players cards have four elements on it, Fire, Air, Water, and Earth. Each element plays a critical role in defending and attacking opponent's cards.
Action cards are cards that players can play that could potentially change the tide of the challenge and boost the player gameplay in multiple ways.
Effect cards are cards that players can play which remains active for as long as the card is present in the Effect Card Slot. Effects cards will always have a positive boost to the character cards.
Rules
There are different sets of rules that players MUST fulfil and failure to do so will prevent players from challenging in a card battle.
